Hotel

The Organizing Committee has chosen the „Allgäu Stern Hotel“ in Sonthofen to accommodate the skating family, as there is no hotel in Oberstdorf with the requested capacity. The „Allgäu Stern Hotel“ is situated 12 km outside of Oberstdorf, respectively a 20 minutes' bus ride to the ice rink.

The hotel is the largest congress and recreation centre in the region. 355 bed-rooms, available as single rooms, double-bed-rooms, apartments with two rooms for 3 persons and apartments with three rooms for 4 persons, same level or split level are blocked for the skating family.

These rooms are located in four smaller houses around the main building which contains all kind of meeting rooms, three dining rooms, one small and one larger bar, a disco, a bowling alley, a fitness-centre with an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a large congress-centre for 700 people.

From the hotel guests can enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains and the city of Sonthofen, which is the capital of the region called „Oberallgäu“.

CLIMATE

The outside temperature during the last days of February and the beginning of March in Oberstdorf is stated as + 1° Celsius (average measure), but the actual temperature can vary between – 10° Celsius and + 8° Celsius. Especially the nights are pretty cold in this area. The average height of snow is about 50 cm within the village and about 1 to 2 m on the mountains.
